Everything you need to know about buying at the Punchestown Classic and Collector's Car sale.

There’s nothing like the buzz and excitement of a live auction and we are proud to hold the inaugural Collector's Auction in Punchestown racecourse on the 9th & 10th of August 2024. This will be Ireland's largest auction of vintage, classic & performance vehicles in 2024.

From registration to delivery, we aim to make the process of buying as easy and transparent as possible.

Before the auction

Initial enquiries:

Our website will showcase all of the lots available prior to the auction day. For each lot we provide a detailed description, professional photographs, and video content where possible, in order for interested bidders to obtain as much information prior to viewing/bidding. Viewing days:

There will be viewing available prior to the auction, giving potential buyer a great opportunity  to inspect vehicles and and their providence. Viewing times are outlined below:

Thursday, August 8th from 2pm to 7pm.

Friday, August 9th from 9am to 7pm

Saturday, August 10th from 9am to 1.30pm

Auction begins on Saturday, August 10th at 2pm.

Our team will be on hand during these times to assist you and answer any questions you may have.

Vehicle Documents, Service History, etc., will be available to inspect in person on the viewing days at the dedicated documents desk.

During the Auction

Bidding in the room

Here you can enjoy the excitement of bidding in person at a live auction. Register in person at the registration desk and place a bidding deposit (outlined below) before the auction begins to receive a bidding card.

Proxy bidding

If you are unavailable on the auction day, proxy bidding is a great way to secure the lot that interests you. By contacting our team in advance, and placing a proxy bid, our team will bid on your behalf up to the amount specified. Our team will execute the bid as low as possible on your behalf.

Online bidding

Buyers can easily bid online on munsterauctions.com by registering in advance and placing a bidding deposit (outlined below). Registration to bid online opens one week prior to the auction.

Telephone bidding

By contacting our team and registering in advance, buyers can bid by telephone with an auction specialist. Telephone bidders must register their interested lots with us 48 hours before the auction and our team will call you 2/3 lots before your interested lot.

Registering to bid:


To register for proxy or online bidding, please log in or create an account on munsterauctions.com. Once logged into your account, then register for The Collector's Auction by clicking here or by clicking "Register for This Auction" on the auction catalogue.

To bid in the room, you can register on the viewing or auction days by visiting the registration desk. A bidding deposit of €500 is required to register. This is refundable less an administration fee of €25.

When you complete the registration process you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of MunsterAuctions.com & The Collector's Auction.

Buyer’s premium:

Like the majority of auction houses, the The Collector's Auction by Munster Auctions charge a buyer's premium on the hammer price.

Our buyer's premiums are detailed below:

Our Buyer's Premium is capped at a maximum of €3500 + VAT (€4305)

Buyer's Premium example:

If the hammer falls on a lot at €10,000, the Buyer's Premium will be €1,000 + VAT (€1230). This means the buyer's total cost for this lot, out the door, will be €11,230.

Please note, some lots may also be sold subject to VAT. This will be included in the hammer price and these items will be clearly marked.

During the auction

It's time to bid!

If you have registered to bid in the room, take a seat and enjoy the buzz that comes from being in the auction hall!

For telephone bidding, hang tight until we phone you 2/3 lots prior to the one(s) you have registered for.

For online bidding, you can watch the live stream through your online account. To bid, simply follow the on screen bidding prompts.

If you have registered for a proxy bid, you will receive an email after the auction with your invoice if your bid has been successful. 

After the auction

Payment: 

If you are the successful bidder, you will receive your invoice via email following the auction. All payments are due in full by 4pm on Tuesday 13th of August and must be made in EURO (€).

We accept payments via bank transfer. Or in person with credit/debit card or cash.

Lots purchased can only be released upon receipt of cleared funds. 

Collection: 

Lots must be collected by 5pm on Wednesday August 14th. Please contact the auction team to arrange a collection slot.

Storage fees apply after 5pm on Wednesday August 14th.

Buyers should satisfy themselves that they have all relevant documents, keys & spares relating to their lot(s) at time of collection.

Written instruction from buyers must be provided if they wish their lot(s) to be collected by an agent.
